FG Begins ATM Card Distribution for N75,000 Cash Transfer, Millions of Nigerians to Benefit

The Federal Government has commenced the distribution of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards to beneficiaries of its social welfare programme, aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by vulnerable Nigerians.

The initiative, coordinated by the National Social Safety-Net Coordinating Office (NASSCO), will provide a total cash transfer of ₦75,000 to each qualified beneficiary across the country.

According to officials, the cash disbursement falls under the broader framework of the government’s social intervention schemes, including the Rapid Response Register (RRR), the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), and the National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO).

The programme is expected to reach millions of Nigerians, particularly households living below the poverty line, with the aim of providing immediate relief and improving livelihoods.

Beneficiaries are to receive their funds directly through the issued ATM cards, ensuring transparency and reducing leakages often associated with manual cash distribution.

Government representatives said the initiative demonstrates President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to strengthening social protection systems and addressing the effects of rising inflation and subsidy removal on the most vulnerable citizens.

The exercise has already begun in several states, with reports of beneficiaries collecting their cards at designated centres. Officials urged Nigerians enrolled in the programme to be patient as distribution continues nationwide in phases.

Stakeholders have lauded the scheme as a step in the right direction but have called for improved monitoring to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive the support.
