Chelsea Sign Garnacho from Manchester United for £40m

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in a deal worth a reported £40 million.
The 21-year-old penned a seven-year contract with the reigning Club World Cup champions and was unveiled at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, where he watched the Blues climb to the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Fulham.
“It’s an incredible moment for my family and me to join this great club. I can’t wait to get started,” Garnacho said after completing his move. “I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special – we’re the best team in the world! It’s amazing to be here and I’m very happy.”
Garnacho made 144 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 26 goals, including a crucial strike in the Red Devils’ 2-1 FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City in 2024.
Despite his bright record, the Argentine fell out of favour under United manager Ruben Amorim this season. He was sidelined from first-team training alongside teammates Antony and Jadon Sancho, prompting speculation over his future before Chelsea sealed the deal.
The transfer pushes Chelsea’s spending in the current window beyond £250 million, with Garnacho joining fellow attacking recruits Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao, and Jamie Gittens in bolstering Enzo Maresca’s squad.
