Anambra PDP Elders Council Warns Against Dissolving State Executive Committee

The Anambra State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elders Council has urged the party’s national headquarters to abandon plans to dissolve the state chapter’s executive committee.
The council, led by Senator Ben Obi, expressed concerns that such a move would destabilize the party’s structure in the state and undermine its chances in the upcoming governorship election.
The council praised the current executive committee for maintaining relative peace within the party and engaging all stakeholders effectively.
They also clarified that there is no legal action pending against the Anambra State Executive, dismissing rumors suggesting otherwise as entirely false.
In a communique issued after a stakeholders meeting, the Elders Council warned the National Working Committee (NWC) against allowing itself to be manipulated into undermining its own success.
The council noted that the NWC had conducted a free and fair congress in Anambra State and should not allow its efforts to be undone.
The council expressed gratitude to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), NWC, national caucus, and Governor’s Forum for their unwavering resolve and commitment to stabilizing the party.
The Elders Council emphasized that dissolving the legitimately elected executive committee would invite instability and unrest in the state, potentially casting doubts over the credibility of the forthcoming governorship elections and national convention.
They urged the NWC to exercise caution and discernment regarding individuals presenting misleading information.
The council’s warning highlights the importance of maintaining stability and cohesion within the party, particularly ahead of crucial elections.
The Anambra State PDP is expected to hold its governorship election in November 2025, and the party’s stability will be crucial to its chances of success.
