Otu Lauds Tinubu’s Establishment of South South Development Commission

The Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has praised President Bola Tinubu for establishing the South South Development Commission (SSDC), describing it as a historic and justice-driven decision.

The governor believes the commission will be a turning point in the development trajectory of the South South region, which has long contributed to the nation’s wealth without adequate institutional support.

In a statement, Governor Otu congratulated the newly inaugurated Board of the Commission, highlighting the appointments of two Cross River indigenes, Soni Abang and Larry Odey. He urged them to view their roles as a sacred trust and a call to service, emphasizing the need for visionary leadership, integrity, and purpose.

The governor charged the Board to lead the Commission with a commitment to inclusive growth, progress, and regional integration. He also urged them to deliver transformative legacies that would empower youth, uplift communities, and foster cohesive development across the six states of the region.

Governor Otu assured the Board of Cross River State’s support and pledged close collaboration with the SSDC to harness the region’s vast natural wealth for the benefit of its people.

He expressed confidence that the Commission would end cycles of deprivation and place the South South on a path of inclusive prosperity.
