US Clears $825m Missile Package to Bolster Ukraine’s Defence

The United States has approved a potential foreign military sale of advanced air-launched missiles worth $825 million to Ukraine, in a move aimed at strengthening Kyiv’s defense capability amid its ongoing war with Russia.

According to the U.S. State Department, the deal covers the supply of up to 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munitions (ERAM), which are precision-guided cruise missiles designed to strike targets at long range

The package also includes GPS/Inertial Navigation Systems with anti-spoofing features, missile containers, mission planning software, spare parts, training, technical support, and logistics assistance.

The Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), which notified Congress of the proposed sale, stressed that the transaction would help Ukraine “meet current and future threats” while contributing to stability in Europe Officials added that the sale would not alter the basic military balance in the region.

Funding for the procurement will be sourced through the U.S. Foreign military financing and contributions from Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands. The principal contractors are Zone 5 Technologies and CoAspire.

The approval marks one of the largest U.S. arms packages for Ukraine this year, coming as the country continues to seek enhanced long-range strike capability against Russian forces.

The agreement, however, still requires congressional approval and final contract negotiations.
