FG Rewards TeenEagle Global Champion Nafisah Abdullahi with ₦200,000

The Federal Government has honoured 17-year-old Nafisah Abdullahi from Yobe State with a cash prize of ₦200,000 after she emerged overall winner of the prestigious TeenEagle Global Finals English Competition held in London.

At a ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suiwaba Ahmad, presented the award, praising Nafisah for her outstanding performance that placed Nigeria on the global stage.

Dr. Alausa described her as “a beacon of excellence and inspiration to Nigerian youths,” adding that her victory reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in education and nurturing talent.

Nafisah, a student of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), defeated over 20,000 competitors from 69 countries, including participants from native English-speaking nations, to be crowned the world’s best in English language skills. Her feat has drawn widespread commendation across the country.

Prof. Ahmad lauded her determination and brilliance, noting that her success demonstrates the ability of Nigerian students to compete and triumph at the highest levels. He further assured that the Tinubu administration would continue to prioritise policies that give young Nigerians opportunities to excel globally.

In addition to the federal recognition, the Atiku Abubakar Foundation had earlier awarded Nafisah and her teammates — Rukaiya Fema and Khadija Kalli — fully funded scholarships for their exceptional achievements in the competition.

The Yobe State Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Abba Adam, also commended Nafisah and pledged the state’s continued support for academic excellence.

Speaking after receiving the award, Nafisah expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu, the Federal Government, her school, parents, and mentors, stressing that their support was key to her victory. She promised to use her experience to inspire other young Nigerians to pursue education and excellence.

Her triumph not only celebrates personal achievement but also underscores the immense potential of Nigeria’s youth when provided with the right platforms and encouragement.
