The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has entered into an accord with a UK-based enterprise to facilitate the hosting of the Africa Defence and Security Exhibition (AFRIDEX 2026) in Lagos.
AFRIDEX, heralded as Africa’s foremost defence and security showcase, will convene global leaders, innovators, and policymakers to deliberate on strategies for bolstering security across the continent.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this prestigious event was signed on Tuesday by Maj.-Gen. Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya, Director-General of DICON, and Mr. Nick Ornstein, Vice-President of DMG Events, UK, during the ongoing inaugural African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit in Abuja.
This four-day exhibition, slated to unfold in Lagos from October 25, 2026, will spotlight state-of-the-art technologies, foster strategic alliances, and provide a forum for shaping the future of Africa’s defence sector.
In his address at the signing ceremony, Maj.-Gen. Alaya characterized the agreement as a testament to “trust, collaboration, and a shared vision to deliver a world-class exhibition in Nigeria.”
He further noted that AFRIDEX 2026 would bring together military dignitaries, government officials, and technological innovators from around the globe.
Ornstein affirmed that DMG Events is dedicated to ensuring the exhibition provides a comprehensive platform for networking, innovation, and the exchange of knowledge among defence and security stakeholders.
AFRIDEX is anticipated to draw defence ministers, military chiefs, industry leaders, and international partners, positioning it as the most consequential defence and security exhibition ever hosted on the African continent.
