The Federal Government has officially launched the Nigeria Mining Week 2025, a flagship event designed to bring the Nigerian mining industry to the forefront.

Scheduled to take place from October 13 to 15, 2025, in Abuja, the event will bring together government officials, investors, operators, and development partners to discuss the future of the sector.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, declared the event open, emphasizing the government’s commitment to making mining a pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda. He highlighted the progress made in the past decade but stressed the need to scale up the industry, ensure sustainability, and drive value addition.

The Minister noted that Nigeria’s mining industry is no longer a hidden frontier, with over 44 distinct mineral types identified across the federation. He emphasized the government’s efforts to strengthen legal frameworks, streamline licensing processes, and deepen partnerships to ensure a secure and sustainable mining environment.

The event’s theme, “Nigerian Mining: From Progress to Global Relevance,” reflects the industry’s focus on achieving global relevance. The Minister invited all stakeholders to participate in the October event, emphasizing the need for decisive action and collaboration to unlock the sector’s full potential.

The Nigeria Mining Week 2025 is expected to attract over 3,500 participants, including industry leaders, investors, and experts. The event will provide a platform for discussing current challenges, developing actionable solutions, and showcasing emerging technologies. With its rich mineral resources, Nigeria is poised to become a major player in the global mining industry, and this event is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
