FCTA Promotes 49 Deputy Directors to Director Rank, Boosts Morale Efficiency

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has announced the promotion of 49 Deputy Directors to the rank of Director across various departments.

This decision follows Minister Nyesom Wike’s approval of the release of results from the first-ever Computer-Based Promotion Examination, which was conducted on August 12, 2025.

The promotion exercise aimed to clear the backlog of promotion arrears from 2023 to 2025 for workers on Grade Level 16.

A total of 915 Assistant and Deputy Directors participated in the computer-based examination, designed to ensure transparency and eliminate undue influence.

The newly promoted directors will fill 49 of 63 declared vacancies, with the Education Officer Cadre having the highest number of successful candidates. The breakdown of promotions is as follows:

The Education Officer Cadre had 20 successful candidates, with 820 eligible officers vying for 20 vacancies. The Accountant Cadre had 9 successful candidates. Other cadres, including Civil Engineering, Social Welfare, Tourism, Fisheries, and Medical Officers, had one vacancy each filled by a single eligible officer.

The FCTA’s adoption of a computer-based testing model for the promotion examination marks a significant step towards ensuring transparency and merit-based promotions. A minimum pass mark of 60% was set to expedite result processing and make the process fully compliant with technology-driven standards.

This move is expected to boost the morale of workers and enhance the efficiency of the FCTA.

By leveraging technology, the administration aims to eliminate undue influence and ensure that promotions are based solely on merit.

The promotion exercise demonstrates the FCTA’s commitment to meritocracy and transparency in its human resource management.
