PDP Governors’ Forum Hits Back at ADC Over Gusau Meeting Criticism

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has responded to criticism from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its recent meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The ADC had described the gathering as an “insensitive jamboree,” given the state’s ongoing security challenges.

The PDP Governors’ Forum dismissed the ADC’s accusations as baseless and politically motivated.

Director-General Dr. Emmanuel Agbo said the meeting was a planned deliberation on critical national issues, including insecurity, and not a spontaneous event.

The PDP emphasized that its meeting in Gusau was not insensitive to the plight of Zamfara residents affected by recent bandit attacks. Agbo noted that the Forum’s communique commended Zamfara State’s efforts to curb insecurity while condemning ongoing violence in other states, urging the federal government to prioritize citizens’ safety.

The PDP Governors’ Forum criticized the ADC for lack of empathy, accusing the party of fostering division and entitlement. Agbo described the ADC as a disorganized coalition and labeled defectors as “prodigal children” whose exit has strengthened the PDP.

The Forum expressed openness to welcoming back repentant defectors who show genuine remorse, likening them to the biblical prodigal son. Agbo emphasized that the PDP is willing to forgive and reintegrate those who acknowledge their mistakes.

The PDP’s statement highlighted the party’s commitment to addressing the security crisis and promoting national unity, while criticizing the ADC for prioritizing political theatrics over solutions.
