Mbappé and Vinícius Shine as Real Madrid Ease Past Oviedo

Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior delivered the spark for Real Madrid on Sunday night, combining for three goals in a 3–0 victory over Real Oviedo in La Liga.

Oviedo’s return to the Spanish top flight after 23 years drew a raucous crowd in Asturias, but the celebration quickly turned into a showcase of Madrid’s firepower.

Mbappé struck twice, one in each half, while Vinícius came off the bench to provide an assist and add a late third.

Xabi Alonso, who rotated his line-up following last week’s narrow win over Osasuna, left Vinícius and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the bench, restoring Dani Carvajal and handing a first league start to 18-year-old Franco Mastantuono.

Teenager impressed early with his fearless dribbling, though Madrid initially struggled to break through.

The deadlock was broken in the 37th minute when Arda Güler slipped a clever ball into Mbappé, who turned sharply and fired past goalkeeper Aaron Escandell.

The French forward doubled his tally after the interval, finishing calmly from a disguised pass by Vinícius to quieten Oviedo’s hopes of a late comeback.

Vinícius, who entered just after the hour mark, capped the night himself in stoppage time. Brahim Díaz’s cutback found the Brazilian in space, and he rolled home Madrid’s third to seal the win.

Oviedo nearly made the contest more dramatic when Kwasi Sibo rattled the post in the 81st minute, but the visitors quickly reasserted control. Escandell was called into action several times, keeping the scoreline respectable.

Elsewhere in La Liga, Villarreal thrashed Girona 5–0 with new signing, Tajon Buchanan scoring a hat-trick. Real Sociedad rallied from two goals down to draw 2–2 with Espanyol, while Osasuna edged 10-man Valencia 1–0 thanks to an early Ante Budimir strike.
