No Plans to Close Bola Ige International Business Complex, Explains Oyo State

The Oyo State Government has refuted allegations that the Bola Ige International Business Complex in Gbagi, Ibadan, would be closed on Monday, labeling the rumors as baseless.
Hon. Adeniyi Adebisi, the Commissioner for Investment, Trade, Cooperatives, and Industry, conveyed this in a statement on Sunday, reassuring traders, shop proprietors, and the general public that the market will remain operational.
He characterized the speculation as untrue and a deliberate ploy by troublemakers to instigate needless anxiety within the business sector.
He stated, “The Bola Ige International Business Complex continues to be a vibrant commercial hub in the state, and at no time did the government consider its closure.
“We encourage traders and the public to disregard this deceptive information propagated by unscrupulous individuals whose objective is to disrupt peace and routine business operations.
“Normal activities will proceed without any obstruction on Monday and beyond.”
The Commissioner further acknowledged that the government is cognizant of certain practices within the complex where some shop owners, predominantly seniors within the business complex, allegedly allocate the spaces in front of their shops to petty traders, occasionally measuring the portions with rulers and exploiting them financially.
He emphasized that the current administration under Governor Seyi Makinde is dedicated to fostering a conducive environment for commerce to flourish and would not make any decision that might inhibit business activities in the state.
Additionally, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olajide Okesade, reiterated the government’s stance, noting that appropriate security measures have been instituted to maintain peace and order at the business complex.
He stated, “The Ministry wishes to assure all traders, customers, and stakeholders that there will be no closure of the Bola Ige International Business Complex on Monday.
“The rumor is unfounded, and everyone should conduct their normal business without apprehension.
“The government remains committed to safeguarding the interests of traders and ensuring the seamless operation of all markets and business complexes across the state.”
The government therefore urged the public to disregard false information and rely exclusively on official statements from relevant authorities.
