2027: Shaibu Calls for Coalition to Re-Elect Tinubu

The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Sports (NIS), Hon. Philip Shaibu, has urged Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu for his re-election in 2027, insisting that any coalition against him would only serve the interests of those who previously looted the country’s economy.

Shaibu, who is also a former Deputy Governor of Edo State, made the call during a visit to the headquarters of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in Abuja over the weekend.

According to him, President Tinubu inherited a broken national foundation but has shown strong determination to rebuild and strengthen it.

“The foundation of our nation was already broken before Tinubu assumed office. One man came and said we must strengthen the foundation. Have you wondered why they are fighting Tinubu? It is because of the foundation,” Shaibu said.

He described emerging opposition coalitions as a gathering of “characters that created the problems the President is currently fixing,” stressing that Nigerians must reject them.

“The message now is that the TSG should go and form a coalition for the President’s re-election in 2027 because, in just two years, the foundation of the country has been solidified again and we are now talking about building on it,” he added.

Shaibu also assured that he would initiate a shake-up at the Nigerian Institute of Sports to reposition the agency and deliver on Tinubu’s mandate of revamping the once moribund institute.
