Kwara Police Arrest Man Over Murder, Dismemberment of Sister-in-Law

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Sylvester Enemo, in connection with the gruesome killing and dismemberment of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Esther Enemo, in Ilorin.
The incident, which occurred last Thursday in Temidire community, shocked residents after the mutilated body of the 39-year-old woman was discovered in a bush behind her residence.
According to police reports, officers responded to a distress call around 9:00 a.m. following suspicions raised by a neighbour over unusual activity at the home of the victim’s husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo.
“Detectives who arrived at the scene found the mutilated body of Mrs. Esther Enemo in a bush behind her residence,” a source disclosed. A further search reportedly uncovered body parts stuffed in a sack and dumped beneath a nearby community bridge.
Police confirmed that Sylvester Enemo, the younger brother of the victim’s husband, was seen leaving the house shortly before the discovery. He was arrested immediately, while the husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, has also been contacted for questioning.
The remains of the deceased have been evacuated and deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the case, assuring residents that the command would ensure justice is served.
“We will leave no stone unturned in getting to the root of this matter,” he said.
The police urged residents to remain calm and avoid speculation that could worsen tensions within the community.
They also appealed for cooperation, asking members of the public to provide credible information that could aid the investigation.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. “Security measures have been reinforced across the state, and we remain fully committed to protecting all residents and ensuring peace in Kwara communities,” she said.
