Apapa LG Mobilizes Residents for Voter Registration

Apapa Local Government has intensified efforts to strengthen democracy by mobilizing residents for the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.

The Executive Chairman of Apapa LG, Hon. Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Ganiu Ismail, led a sensitization session in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The event, held within the council premises, brought together stakeholders, party leaders, youth groups, and community representatives.

It featured an engaging address by the Electoral Officer for Apapa, Mr. Akinbohun Akinwunmi, who underscored the importance of active participation in the CVR.

Mr. Akinbohun urged residents to seize the opportunity to register, update their information, or transfer their voting details ahead of the next general election.

He emphasized that the CVR is not only about increasing voter numbers but also about empowering citizens to contribute to governance through the ballot.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, Hon. Ismail reiterated that the local government remains committed to promoting civic responsibility and inclusiveness in the democratic process.

According to him, ensuring that every eligible voter is captured in the electoral system is vital to deepening Nigeria’s democracy.

“This exercise is a clarion call for all residents of Apapa to recognize the power of their votes. Democracy thrives only when citizens actively participate, and that begins with being registered,” he said.

The sensitization program also provided a platform for questions and clarifications, ensuring that residents fully understood the process and requirements for registration.

Observers at the event commended the collaboration between Apapa LG and INEC, describing it as a step in the right direction toward enhancing grassroots political participation and credible elections.

This initiative highlights Apapa Local Government’s proactive approach to governance and its determination to give every eligible citizen a voice in decision-making.
