Makinde Warns Against Mudslinging, Says He Won’t Descend to Gutter Politics

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has cautioned against engaging in low-level politics, stating that he will not stoop to the level of those who resort to gutter politics.
Makinde made this statement after attending the South-West zoning consultative summit of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos.
The governor emphasized the importance of maintaining a high level of discourse in politics, focusing on what benefits Nigerians rather than personal attacks.
Despite challenges, Makinde expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to reclaim the confidence of Nigerians, citing the party’s performance in recent elections.
Regarding zoning of the PDP presidential ticket to the South, Makinde clarified that the party is not yet at that stage, prioritizing building a vibrant and united PDP that Nigerians can believe in again.
The summit featured several dignitaries, including PDP Board of Trustees Chairman Adolphus Wabara and other governors and stakeholders.
Makinde’s remarks underscore the need for a renewed focus on issue-based politics and party building, rather than personal or regional interests.
The PDP’s efforts to revitalize its fortunes and reconnect with Nigerians are seen as crucial to the party’s future success.
