Hilda Baci Set to Attempt World’s Largest Pot of Jollof Rice in Lagos

Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has announced her latest record-breaking ambition—cooking the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice. The culinary spectacle is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Baci, who shot to global fame in 2023 after completing the longest cooking marathon, revealed that the upcoming attempt is more than just about breaking records.
According to her, the event will serve as a cultural festival, bringing together food lovers, entertainers, and the community in a grand celebration of Nigeria’s most iconic dish.
The centerpiece of the attempt will be a custom-built pot measuring six meters wide and six meters tall, a massive project that reportedly took two years to design and prepare.
The event is being organized in partnership with seasoning brand Gino, which has pledged full support for the feat.
Hilda described the project as “a celebration of resilience, creativity, and Nigerian pride,” adding that Jollof rice, often at the center of culinary rivalry across West Africa, deserves to be showcased on a global stage.
Her announcement has reignited public excitement around her career. In May 2023, Baci made headlines worldwide after cooking for more than four days straight in Lagos, earning recognition from the Guinness World Records.
That record was later surpassed by Irish chef Alan Fisher in November of the same year, but Hilda’s achievement cemented her place as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs.
As anticipation builds, thousands of Nigerians and international guests are expected to attend or stream the Lagos event, which promises to combine food, music, and cultural pride in an unprecedented way.
