Abbas,.Laments, Condemns Katsina Mosque Attack, Mourns Victims

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of worshippers during a dawn attack on a mosque in Katsina State.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning in Unguwan Mantau community, Malumfashi Local Government Area, claimed the lives of at least 32 worshippers according to community reports, though police authorities confirmed 17 deaths.
The victims were attacked while observing the early morning Fajr prayers.
In a condolence statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, Abbas described the killings as “barbaric” and a “daring affront on innocent worshippers in a sacred place that should be safe and secure.”
The Speaker urged security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking down the perpetrators and ensure they are swiftly brought to justice to deter similar attacks.
He extended his condolences to the families of the victims, the Unguwan Mantau community, as well as the government and people of Katsina State. Abbas also prayed for the repose of the souls of the slain worshippers and strength for their grieving families.
