Nasarawa Lawmaker Appoints 106 Aides to Strengthen Service Delivery

A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Gude, has announced the appointment of 106 aides to assist him in what he described as a deliberate effort to improve service delivery and enhance the welfare of his constituents.
Gude, who represents Uke/Karshi Constituency under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lafia on Tuesday.
He explained that the aides, comprising special and personal assistants, will not only help him reach every corner of his constituency but also benefit from stipends that could uplift their living standards.
According to him, the newly appointed aides will receive varying monthly allowances ranging from ₦10,000 to ₦100,000, depending on their level of responsibility. “This is to ensure effective grassroots mobilization, improve communication with my constituents, and at the same time give the beneficiaries a means of livelihood,” he said.
The lawmaker further highlighted some of his ongoing interventions, including the provision of boreholes to tackle water scarcity, the payment of WAEC fees for several students, and various empowerment programmes aimed at boosting education, health, agriculture, and small-scale enterprises.
Gude said his decision was driven by a vision to make his constituents self-reliant while promoting unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence across communities. “Leadership is about service. By working closely with the people and empowering them, we can create a ripple effect that uplifts families and strengthens our society,” he added.
While the gesture has been welcomed by some as a sign of inclusive leadership, it is also expected to generate debate over the financial implications of maintaining such a large number of aides, at a time when government spending remains a sensitive subject in Nigeria.
