Kaduna Nursing College Staff Back to Work After Government Intervention

Staff of the Kaduna State College of Nursing Sciences have suspended their three-day warning strike after interventions from stakeholders and assurances from the Kaduna State Government.
The industrial action, which began on Monday, was initiated by members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), KSCONS chapter, over alleged refusal of the college management to implement staff promotions for three consecutive years.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the state chapter chairman, Dr. Daniel Danboyi, the union announced that the suspension takes immediate effect.
Danboyi explained that the decision followed “due consultations and intervention led by prominent individuals who have the college’s interest at heart.”
He commended Governor Uba Sani for what he described as a firm commitment to education in the state, noting that the governor’s assurances encouraged the union to call off the strike.
“The union was encouraged by the governor’s assurance of addressing their grievances,” the statement read.
Danboyi also praised the solidarity and compliance of staff during the action, describing it as “a testament to the power of unity and collective action.”
However, the union did not clarify whether any concrete agreement had been reached with the government regarding the unresolved issue of staff promotions.
