Obi Can’t Perform Better Than Tinubu, Did No Miracle As Anambra Gov — APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Ajiboye, has dismissed the capacity of Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, to perform better than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in governance.
Ajiboye, who made the remarks on Monday while speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today, said Obi’s record as governor of Anambra State does not reflect the credentials of a leader capable of transforming Nigeria.
“Bring a million Obi, he can’t do better, I know, I can even take a bet on it,” the APC stalwart declared. “What miracle will he perform in government? What miracle was he able to perform in Anambra?”
He argued that Obi’s eight years as governor lacked groundbreaking achievements, insisting that his supporters have exaggerated his legacy. “Bring the records. How can you say he was successful in Anambra? He wasn’t. He was even much younger then. He was only chairman of a bank,” Ajiboye added.
The APC chieftain maintained that Tinubu, despite the challenges facing his administration, has demonstrated leadership capacity and reforms that will eventually reposition the country for growth, stressing that comparisons with Obi were unfounded.
Peter Obi, who served as Anambra governor between 2006 and 2014, has often cited his fiscal prudence, investment in education, and infrastructural projects as hallmarks of his tenure. However, critics within the ruling party argue that his record falls short of the transformational leadership Nigeria requires.
The political faceoff reflects the lingering debates following the 2023 general elections, where Obi emerged as a major challenger to Tinubu but lost in a hotly contested race that has since continued to fuel partisan arguments across the country.
