WOFAN Builds Boreholes, Renovates Mosques in Kano

The Women Farmers Advancement Network (WOFAN) has handed over solar-powered boreholes and renovated worship centers to communities in Bebeji and Kura local government areas of Kano State, as part of efforts to curb open defecation and improve access to safe water.

The facilities, completed under the WOFAN ICON2 project, include toilets, solar lighting, water points, carpets, and other essentials to support both hygiene and community activities.

Executive Director, Dr. Salamatu Garba, represented at the event by Alhaji Rabiu Sule, urged residents to ensure the facilities are well-maintained.

She said the boreholes, each with 21 water outlets, would ease water scarcity in schools and homes, helping reduce the number of out-of-school children.

Community leaders and clerics welcomed the intervention, praising WOFAN for addressing both sanitation challenges and religious needs.

The District Heads of Bebeji and Kura, alongside the Chief Imam of Imawa Juma’a Mosque, offered prayers for the organization’s continued success.
