Vitinha Strike Hands PSG Narrow Win at Nantes

Paris Saint-Germain began their Ligue 1 title defence with a 1-0 win over Nantes on Sunday, thanks to a deflected second-half strike from Vitinha.
The Portuguese midfielder broke the deadlock in the 67th minute when his effort ricocheted off Nantes defender Chidozie Awaziem, leaving goalkeeper Anthony Lopes stranded.
PSG, who made seven changes from their UEFA Super Cup win against Tottenham, struggled to break down a spirited Nantes side but did just enough to secure victory.
New signings Illia Zabarnyi and goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier both made their debuts, while Ousmane Dembele and Nuno Mendes came off the bench to play a role in the winning goal.
Gonçalo Ramos saw an earlier effort ruled out for offside, while Bradley Barcola went close late on.
Elsewhere in Ligue 1, Olivier Giroud netted his first goal for Lille in a 3-3 draw at Brest, Angers edged Paris FC 1-0, and Strasbourg sealed a 1-0 win at Metz.
Auxerre beat Lorient 1-0, while Monaco went top with a 3-1 victory over Le Havre on Saturday.
