Tinubu Stops in Dubai on Diplomatic Mission to Japan, Brazil

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has landed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a brief stopover en route to a two-leg foreign tour that will take him to Japan and Brazil. The trip is aimed at deepening Nigeria’s economic, diplomatic, and investment partnerships with two of the world’s most influential economies.

According to the Presidency, the first leg of the journey will see President Tinubu participate in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), scheduled for August 20–22 in Yokohama, Japan.

The conference, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa”, will bring together African leaders, Japanese officials, and global stakeholders to discuss sustainable development, private-sector innovation, and peace-building on the continent.

While in Japan, the Nigerian leader will attend plenary sessions, hold bilateral meetings with Japanese government representatives, and meet executives of major companies with investments in Nigeria.

The focus will be on boosting trade, attracting new investments, and expanding cooperation in infrastructure, technology, and renewable energy.

After concluding engagements in Japan, Tinubu will proceed to Brasília, Brazil, for a two-day state visit from August 24–25 at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The visit will feature a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, a business forum with Brazilian investors, and the signing of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering areas such as agriculture, energy, education, and trade.

The Nigerian delegation is expected to include key ministers and senior government officials tasked with negotiating and finalizing partnership frameworks during the trip.

This multi-country diplomatic mission underscores President Tinubu’s foreign policy agenda of strengthening Nigeria’s global ties, attracting strategic investments, and positioning the country as a leading economic player in both Africa and the wider international community.
