ADC Candidate Femi Dexter Akin-Alamu Decries Alleged Vote Buying in Ibadan North By-Election

Femi Dexter Akin-Alamu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) flagbearer in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, has raised concerns over alleged inducement of voters during Saturday’s poll.

Speaking after casting his ballot at Polling Unit 38, Ward 11, located within the University of Ibadan, Akin-Alamu revealed he had received credible information indicating that citizens were being enticed with cash and other benefits to influence their electoral choices.

He strongly criticized the act, stating that it compromises the fairness and credibility of the voting system and threatens democratic values.

Despite the concerns, Akin-Alamu acknowledged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring timely distribution of materials, which, according to him, contributed to a seamless voting experience.

He, however, expressed regret over the poor voter engagement, stressing that limited participation poses a challenge to the strength of representative governance.
