Yilwatda Declares Ogun State Party Stronghold Ahead of By-Election

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has described Ogun State as a strong base for the ruling party, expressing confidence that residents will vote overwhelmingly for the APC in Saturday’s by-election for the Remo Federal Constituency.

Prof. Yilwatda made the remarks at the Gateway International Airport on his way to Abuja after attending the grand finale rally for the party’s candidate, Hon. Adesola Elegbeji, in Sagamu on Wednesday.

Highlighting the significance of the Gateway International Airport, the APC chairman described it as a “game changer” capable of creating a new economy and positioning Ogun State as a hub connected to the global market.

“We have known the APC as a progressive party with progressive policies and programmes, and this is one of them — creating a new economy out of Ogun State and ensuring the state is open to the world,” he said. “Anyone who votes for any other party aside from the APC is wasting their vote. I look forward to winning massively in Ogun State. It is our terrain, our state, our environment.”

Yilwatda emphasised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s desire for Ogun State to align politically with the federal government, urging voters to support Elegbeji as “the voice and representative” the state needs in the National Assembly.

Also speaking at the event, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, assured residents of robust security arrangements to guarantee a peaceful, transparent, and credible election.

“I believe the security architecture is fully briefed. This election will be peaceful; we will do everything to ensure that our citizens go out and exercise their franchise without anyone disturbing them,” Abiodun said, calling on voters to come out in large numbers for the APC candidate.

The Remo Federal Constituency by-election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, with security agencies expected to deploy personnel across polling units to maintain order.
