Tinubu Swears in Dakas as Head of Law Reform Commission

President Bola Tinubu has officially administered the oath of office to Dakas C.J. Dakas (SAN), appointing him as the new head of the Nigeria Law Reform Commission. Alongside him, Uchenna Okolocha was also sworn in as one of the Commissioners of the same body.

The brief swearing-in event took place at the Council Chambers within the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Following the ceremony, deliberations of the Federal Executive Council began without delay.

Earlier, in July, the Nigerian Senate gave its nod to the appointments of both Dakas and Dr. Okolocha. Dakas was named as the lead of the Law Reform Commission, while Okolocha was selected to represent the South-South zone.

The confirmations came after a thorough assessment by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, under the leadership of Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire of Ondo Central. The panel affirmed that both nominees were fully qualified, experienced, and had no record of misconduct or negative security clearance.

The Nigeria Law Reform Commission plays a central role in continuously reviewing federal statutes to ensure they evolve in alignment with the dynamic values and standards of the Nigerian populace.
