TikToker Peller Laments Over Alleged ₦36m Tax Bill from LIRS

Popular TikTok content creator, Peller, has raised the alarm over what he described as an outrageous ₦36 million income tax bill allegedly issued to him by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).

The social media personality, who gained prominence only last year, voiced his frustration during a recent Instagram Live session with Nigerian singer, Peruzzi.

Peller claimed he was shocked to receive such a hefty demand, insisting that he does not have the financial capacity to settle the amount.

“Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” he lamented, adding that he is already struggling to meet personal expenses.

During the livestream, Peruzzi urged Peller to find a way to resolve the issue, reminding him that paying taxes is a civic responsibility for all Nigerians.

He revealed that his own tax obligations exceed the sum being demanded from the TikToker.

“Bro, I pay more than that myself. It’s our duty to pay taxes, but you can also engage them to review your case if the figure is too high,” Peruzzi advised.

As of the time of filing this report, the LIRS has not issued an official statement regarding Peller’s claim.

However, the incident has sparked debate on social media over how tax assessments are calculated for influencers and digital creators, particularly those whose careers are still emerging.

Industry observers say the case highlights the growing attention Nigerian tax authorities are paying to earnings from the entertainment and digital content sectors, a move aimed at expanding the nation’s tax base.
