Sudan Coach, Appiah Explains 4-0 Victory Over Nigeria in CHAN Clash

Sudan coach, Kwesi Appiah, has revealed the tactical approach that secured his side’s emphatic 4-0 win over Nigeria in their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group D encounter on Tuesday.
The Sudanese side stunned the Super Eagles B team with goals from Walieldin Khedr, a brace by Abdel Raouf, and an early own-goal from Leonard Ngenge, sending Nigeria crashing out of the tournament.
With the result, Sudan moved to the top of Group D on four points from two matches, ahead of their final group game against Senegal to decide the group leader.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Appiah credited the win to disciplined defending and swift counterattacks.
“We knew it would be a tough game, especially in the first 20 minutes,” the Ghanaian tactician said. “We had to absorb the pressure from Nigeria and played them on the counter. Our level was much better than our previous performance against Congo.”
The dominant performance leaves Sudan in a strong position as they aim for a deep run in the competition.
