Shettima Leads Tinubu’s Delegation to National Steel Summit 2025

Vice President Kashim Shettima, standing in for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday arrived at the venue of the National Steel Summit 2025, organised by the Ministry of Steel Development.

The high-profile summit, themed “Rebuilding and Consolidating Nigeria’s Steel Industry: Collaborative Actions for Sustainable Growth and Global Competitiveness”, is expected to serve as a strategic platform for charting the future of Nigeria’s steel sector.

Gathering industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and development partners, the event will explore collaborative approaches to revitalise steel production, strengthen the value chain, and position Nigeria as a competitive player in the global steel market.

In his welcome remarks, Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, noted that the summit would focus on policy reforms, infrastructure investment, and public-private partnerships to unlock the sector’s vast potential. He stressed that a vibrant steel industry is vital for industrialisation, job creation, and economic diversification.

Vice President Shettima is expected to deliver the keynote address on behalf of President Tinubu, outlining the administration’s policy direction for rebuilding Nigeria’s steel capacity, reviving moribund plants, and attracting fresh investments.

The summit comes at a critical time as Nigeria seeks to reduce its dependence on steel imports, stimulate local production, and tap into the growing demand for steel across construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects.
