NOA Launches 14-Day Campaign on Security,.National Symbols, Govt. Policies

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has unveiled plans to launch a fortnight-long campaign addressing security, national symbols, disaster preparedness, and Federal Government policies
. NOA Director General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, announced during a press briefing in Abuja yesterday that the sensitization initiative will extend across all 774 local government areas.
He stated: “This is not merely another campaign—it is a coordinated national awakening that delves into the core of our identity, safety, values, and development.
“The National Orientation Agency, adhering to its constitutional mandate, is initiating five thematic campaigns aimed at tackling some of the most urgent issues within our communities today.
“Nigeria finds itself at a pivotal juncture. Our democracy flourishes only when citizens are informed and actively engaged.
Our communities are more secure when citizens are vigilant and cooperative.
“Our youth prosper when guided by the right values. Our heritage persists when we uphold our symbols and identity.
“Our lives and livelihoods are safeguarded when we proactively prepare for natural disasters.
“Nevertheless, throughout the nation, recent surveys and field reports have highlighted gaps in awareness, detrimental practices, and misinformation that jeopardize our unity, safety, and progress.”
He further elaborated: “The five thematic campaigns encompass: National Enlightenment on Government Policies, Programmes, and Activities. We will deliver accurate, accessible information on key government initiatives—from the Student Loan Scheme to infrastructure, social investment, and job creation—to the doorsteps of every Nigerian.
“Flood Mitigation and Disaster Preparedness. With NiMet projections indicating high flood risks in 27 states, we are rallying communities to take immediate action: clear drains, relocate when advised, and adhere to early warnings. Preparedness is more economical than recovery.
“Security is a collective responsibility. Through community dialogues, media engagement, and grassroots outreach, we will foster vigilance, encourage prompt reporting, and cultivate trust between citizens and security agencies.
“National Values Reorientation for Students Against Extreme Sign-Out Practices. Graduation should be an occasion of pride, not peril. We are collaborating with schools, parents, and student leaders to advocate for safe, value-based celebrations that uphold discipline, dignity, and patriotism.
“Our flag, our anthem, our pledge—these unite us beyond tribe or tongue. We will rekindle respect for our national symbols, integrate civic education into schools, and inspire pride in our shared heritage.”
Discussing the scope and execution of the initiative, he stated: “Over the next two weeks, press conferences will be conducted in all 36 states plus the FCT. Grassroots outreach will occur in markets, schools, motor parks, religious institutions, and community halls in all 774 LGAs.
“Information, Education, and Communication materials in English and major Nigerian languages will be distributed. Radio, TV, and social media campaigns will be broadcast daily to reach Nigerians wherever they may be.”
