FIRS, Defence Chiefs Strengthen Ties Ahead of Landmark African Security Conference

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, on Tuesday hosted the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, at the Service’s headquarters in Abuja.
General Musa commended FIRS for its continued financial support to the Armed Forces, stressing the vital connection between sustainable funding and national security. He revealed that Nigeria will host the maiden African Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Abuja from 25–27 August 2025, a historic gathering aimed at advancing Africa’s capacity to define its own defence priorities without reliance on external powers.
Dr. Adedeji reaffirmed that peace remains the bedrock of national prosperity and praised the military’s role in maintaining it. He cited the recent achievement of Nigeria’s oil and gas revenue target made possible by stability in key production zones as proof of the synergy between security and economic growth.
The FIRS Chairman also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to military welfare, noting the recent approval for 1,550 housing units for personnel.
He assured the Armed Forces of the Service’s unwavering support towards the successful hosting of the upcoming African CDS Conference.
