Ronaldo Proposes to Partner, Georgina Rodríguez after 8 Years Together

Cristiano Ronaldo has formally proposed to his long-standing partner, Georgina Rodríguez, heralding a new chapter in their eight-year-long journey together.

The 40-year-old Portuguese football icon’s engagement was disclosed on Monday, August 11, when Rodríguez shared a photograph on Instagram, her hand resting atop Ronaldo’s, adorned with a resplendent oval-shaped diamond ring.

“Yes, I do. In this and every life,” she penned in the translated caption.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez, aged 31, first unveiled their relationship to the public in early 2017 and are parents to five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, aged 8, daughter Alana, aged 7, daughter Bella, aged 3, along with Ronaldo’s 15-year-old son Cristiano Jr. from a prior relationship.

In April 2022, they mourned the loss of Bella’s newborn twin brother, Ángel.

Their debut public appearance was at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich in January 2017, before making their relationship Instagram official in May.

That same year, they welcomed twins through surrogacy and subsequently had daughter Alana in November.

The nascent phase of their romance was chronicled in Rodríguez’s Netflix series “I Am Georgina,” where Ronaldo depicted her as a “remarkably intriguing woman, far more mature than her years.”

Rodríguez recollected his visits to the Gucci store where she was employed, remarking, “He often came after work, once arriving in a Bugatti. My colleagues were astounded. They commuted by bus, and I departed in a Bugatti. People were incredulous.”

Ronaldo added, “It was amusing because I would await her outside the store in these flamboyant cars of mine. We would return home and retreat into our own world.”

In the series, Rodríguez also spoke openly about their child’s loss, deeming it “the best and the worst moment of my life.”

She revealed that Ronaldo “encouraged” her to find joy in life once more following the tragedy. “Life is challenging. Life persists. I have reasons to continue and remain resilient,” she expressed.
