Nduka: Unity Cup Win Boosts Eagles’ CHAN Hopes

Super Eagles B captain, Nduka Junior says the team’s Unity Cup triumph has renewed their confidence as they prepare for a decisive African Nations Championship group clash with Sudan today in Zanzibar.
Nduka noted that the squad had put recent setbacks — including the 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in Uyo that dented Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup hopes — behind them, proving their resilience by lifting the Unity Cup soon after.
“The match against Zimbabwe was just a setback, not a disaster. We went to the Unity Cup to prove a point, and we came out champions,” he said.
Nigeria must win at the 15,000-capacity Amaan Stadium to keep their CHAN hopes alive after a narrow 1-0 loss to title holders Senegal in their opener. Sudan, held to a late draw by Congo, also need a win to stay in contention.
“We are working on every mistake from past games and making sure we do things right,” Nduka added, describing captaining the team at such a tournament as a career highlight.
The Eagles B, runners-up in 2018, face Sudan at 6pm local time, with a win crucial for a place in the knockout stages.
