Like Father, Fasuba’s Daughter Shines With Double Sprint Titles

Annabelle Fasuba, daughter of former Nigerian sprinter Olusoji Fasuba, ended her girls’ U-15 career in style by winning the 100m and 200m at the England Athletics Age Group Championships.

On Saturday, the 13-year-old set a new championship record in the 100m, lowering the mark from 11.82s to 11.73s despite a slow start in the final. Earlier rounds saw her run 11.94s (-2.5) and 11.84s (-0.3) before storming past her rivals in the closing metres to claim gold.

The following day, she dominated the 200m, clocking 25.04s in the heats before winning the final in 24.02s, her favourite event.

Earlier in 2025, Annabelle broke the City of Plymouth’s 48-year-old 100m record at the Spring Warm-up Meeting, and in May 2024, she set two new UK U-15 records in the 100m and 200m in one week.

Her father revealed that she began sprinting less than two years ago under coach Neal Edwards, crediting his guidance for her rapid rise.

Olusoji Fasuba, an African champion in 2004, also won bronze in the 4x100m relay at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
