Troops Arrest Fraudster for Impersonating Operation Safe Haven Personnel

Troops of the 3 Division, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), have apprehended a man identified as Musa Ali for allegedly impersonating a personnel of the security outfit with the intent to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the OPSH Media and Information Officer, Major Samson Zhakom, the suspect was arrested after he fraudulently presented himself as a serving member of the operation and deceitfully collected ₦400,000 from the family of a notorious gunrunner currently under investigation.
Zhakom said Ali falsely claimed he could influence the outcome of the ongoing investigation and secure the suspect’s release from custody. However, his scheme was uncovered, leading to his arrest by OPSH operatives.
“Operation Safe Haven wishes to categorically state that it does not, under any circumstances, collect money or other forms of gratification to release suspects or halt investigations,” the statement read.
The military task force emphasised that all suspects in its custody are subjected to thorough investigations in accordance with legal procedures, with the ultimate goal of ensuring justice and maintaining peace across its Joint Operations Area, which covers parts of Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna states.
The suspect is expected to face legal prosecution after preliminary investigations are completed.
