RETSO Appoints Yakubu Rubs National Trustee to Champion Renewed Hope Initiative Nationwide

The Remi Tinubu Support Organisation (RETSO) has appointed prominent lawyer and political strategist, Yakubu Abdullahi Hussaini Ruba (SAN), as a National Trustee, entrusting him with the responsibility of spearheading grassroots enlightenment for First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s flagship Renewed Hope Initiative across Jigawa State and beyond.
The First Lady’s initiative, which has so far disbursed ₦9.4 billion towards health programmes and humanitarian projects targeting women, youth, and children, forms the core of RETSO’s mission to expand its reach nationwide while preserving her legacy of people-centred leadership.
At the appointment ceremony in Dutse, RETSO’s National Coordinator, Yusi Buba, presented Ruba with his letter of appointment, emphasising the organisation’s objective of strengthening grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Our focus is on building a movement that reaches every community, ensuring the First Lady’s vision touches lives at the base of society,” Buba said.
In his acceptance speech, Ruba — a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, former Attorney-General of Jigawa State, and one of the 50 SANs who defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate at the Supreme Court — described his appointment as “an honour and a call to service.” He pledged the unwavering commitment of the Jigawa trustees to RETSO’s success and to securing the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s victory in future polls.
Other appointments announced at the event include Ibrahim Babawo as North-West Financial Secretary. The ceremony drew goodwill messages from Jigawa APC Deputy Chairman Nasiru Jahun, party elders, and other stakeholders.
Ruba’s selection adds to a distinguished career spanning law, governance, and grassroots mobilisation. Known for never losing his ward in three decades of political activity, he has served as Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State, and as a member of the Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission.
With governors’ wives serving as state matrons, RETSO aims to leverage its expanded leadership structure to deepen outreach, sustain the Renewed Hope Initiative, and strengthen APC’s grassroots base as the political landscape builds towards the next electoral cycle.
