NAF Bombing Raid Decimates Over 100 Bandits in Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has killed more than 100 bandits in targeted airstrikes in Zamfara State, following a series of coordinated operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the North-West.
According to reports, the strikes were carried out after intelligence revealed the movement of a large convoy of armed bandits near Yarbuga in the Bungudu Local Government Area. The NAF deployed precision-guided munitions on the suspected gathering, resulting in heavy casualties among the fighters.
Eyewitness accounts described the aftermath as devastating, with many of the assailants burnt beyond recognition.
The operation also reportedly neutralised loyalists of the notorious bandit kingpin known as Dan-Isuhu.
NAF spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet explained that the assault formed part of a broader campaign to disrupt the logistics and operational bases of armed groups terrorising rural communities in the region.
In a related mission, another NAF strike killed 20 terrorists in the area, although two members of a local vigilante group were confirmed dead after being caught in crossfire. The air force expressed condolences to the families of the vigilantes, commending their role in supporting security operations.
While earlier unverified reports circulating online had claimed that over 400 bandits were killed in the Zamfara operation, official figures released by the NAF and reported place the confirmed toll at just over 100.
Security analysts say the operation demonstrates improved coordination between intelligence agencies and air assets, though they warn that persistent ground operations will be necessary to consolidate the gains.
The NAF vowed to sustain the pressure on armed groups in Zamfara and neighbouring states, reaffirming its commitment to restoring peace to the troubled North-West.
