CDOWA Partners Gombe Ministry to Launch Women’s Economic Empowerment Programmes

The Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), Gombe State Command Chapter, has announced a partnership with the Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs to roll out a series of economic empowerment initiatives aimed at boosting women’s skills and opportunities in the state.
The plan was unveiled during a courtesy visit by the association’s executives to the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Asma’u Iganus.
Leading the delegation, CDOWA Chairperson Hauwa Abdulmumin Muntaz said the collaboration was designed to strengthen women’s capacity and promote self-reliance.
Among the proposed programmes is the Gallant Women Drivers (GWD) training initiative, which will equip women with driving skills and knowledge in security diplomacy. According to Muntaz, the training will not only build competence in transportation but also enhance women’s confidence in navigating security-related environments.
Responding, Commissioner Iganus commended the initiative, describing it as a key step towards achieving the state government’s women empowerment agenda. She pledged full support for the partnership and assured that the ministry would link the association with relevant stakeholders for sponsorship and guidance.
She further urged CDOWA to pursue its programmes with commitment, stating, “These activities have the potential to be a game-changer for women and the entire state.”
