Air Chief Says Security Key to National Development

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has emphasised that Nigeria’s progress depends on its ability to maintain national security.
During an operational assessment visit to Kebbi State, Abubakar reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to protecting lives and property across the country.
“Nigeria must be secure for development to thrive. Protecting the lives and property of Nigerians remains a non-negotiable priority for the Nigerian Air Force. Our commitment is clear: we will locate and root out all criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of law-abiding citizens,” he said in a statement issued by NAF spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
Abubakar noted that Kebbi’s international borders with the Republics of Benin and Niger, along with its vast rural terrain, required heightened vigilance. “What affects Kebbi affects the entire North-West, and by extension, the peace and stability of our nation,” he added, pledging intensified intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations in the state.
Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, commended the Air Force and other security agencies for their efforts in safeguarding lives despite emerging threats in the region. He credited the state’s relative peace to the vigilance and sacrifices of security forces, assuring continued government support for their operations.
