Tiwa Savage Urges Women in Their 30s to Freeze Eggs as “Fertility Insurance”

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has encouraged women in their 30s to consider freezing their eggs early, describing the process as an important form of “fertility insurance” she wishes she had embraced sooner.

Speaking during an interview with British media personality ZeZe Mills, Savage shared personal insights about motherhood, timing, and reproductive choices. The singer, who welcomed her first child at the age of 34, said she felt ready at the time because she was emotionally and financially prepared. However, she admitted she would have opted for egg freezing earlier in life if she had known more about its long-term benefits.

“One advice I will give to women in their 30s is whether you want to have children or not freeze your eggs,” Savage said. “I wish I did it earlier. But I’ve done it now. I don’t know if I want more kids, but in case I do, I’ve done that just to have that insurance.”

Savage warned that many women underestimate how quickly fertility can decline with age, stressing that a sudden drop in egg reserves can happen by the mid-30s. By freezing eggs earlier, she explained, women give themselves more options for the future, regardless of whether they eventually decide to have children.

Her comments have sparked conversations about fertility planning, particularly among women who may delay starting a family for career, personal, or health reasons. The growing trend of social egg freezing has been gaining attention worldwide, and Savage’s openness has brought the topic into the spotlight for her wide fan base.
