Oliseh: Osimhen’s Galatasaray Move Cost €187m, Not €75m

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has disclosed that Victor Osimhen’s move from Napoli to Turkish champions Galatasaray cost far more than the widely reported €75 million, putting the true figure closer to an astonishing €187 million.

Oliseh, speaking on the financial realities of modern football transfers, explained that the official €75 million transfer fee tells only part of the story. He noted that Napoli secured a 10% resale clause in the deal, ensuring they will profit from any future sale of the Nigerian striker. In addition, Osimhen’s reported annual salary of €15 million over a four-year contract amounts to roughly €112 million, pushing the total package to the €187 million mark.

“Let’s get one thing very clear… the actual price at which Osimhen was purchased is €187 million,” Oliseh stated, stressing that many fans and analysts overlook these extra costs when judging transfers.

The former midfielder also suggested that the high cumulative price tag was a major factor behind why several top European clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea, ultimately walked away from negotiations despite earlier interest. He argued that while Osimhen’s quality is unquestionable, the financial demands of the deal placed it beyond what some elite clubs considered reasonable.

Osimhen, who has been one of Europe’s most prolific strikers in recent seasons, became the most expensive signing in Turkish football history with the Galatasaray move. His arrival is expected to boost the club’s domestic dominance and strengthen their challenge in European competitions, even as the scale of the financial commitment continues to spark debate.
