Gov Yusuf Empowers 1,130 Graduates of Revived Skills Institutes

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has distributed empowerment packages to 1,130 graduates from six revitalised entrepreneurship skills institutes, as part of efforts to boost youth self-reliance and economic growth in the state. The ceremony, held at the Coronation Hall of the Government House, featured beneficiaries from the Informatics Institute, Livestock Institute, Driving Institute, Horticulture Institute, Fisheries Institute, and the Film Institute. The centres, established under former Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, were shut down by the previous administration but have been reopened by the Yusuf government. At the event, 250 graduates from the Informatics Institute received laptops, phone repair kits, and ₦100,000 each, while 140 from the Livestock Institute were given bulls, feed, veterinary medicine, and ₦100,000 capital. The Driving Institute produced 250 beneficiaries, each receiving driving certificates, license processing support, ₦200,000, and a ₦15,000 monthly transport allowance. In horticulture, 200 graduates got modern gardening tools and ₦100,000 each, while 200 fisheries graduates received fingerlings, tarpaulin ponds, weighing scales, feed, and veterinary supplies. Ninety graduates from the Film Institute were equipped with digital cameras for movie production and editing. Governor Yusuf said the initiative was aimed at “rekindling hope, restoring dreams, and unlocking the enormous potential” of Kano’s youth, urging beneficiaries to use their packages productively to contribute to the state’s economy. He assured that the empowerment scheme would be expanded to reach more young people in the coming months, describing it as a cornerstone of his administration’s human capital development agenda.
