Tinubu, Obasanjo Pay Tribute to Late Ogbeh, Ex-Agriculture Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have mourned the death of former Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, describing him as a patriot and steadfast believer in democracy whose absence will be deeply felt.

Ogbeh, who also served as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), died on Saturday at the age of 78, his family announced.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed condolences to the government and people of Benue State, praising Ogbeh’s “intellectual contributions to policy formulation” and “practical solutions to complex national challenges.”

“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a patriot whose wisdom, dedication, and pursuit of progress left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s political landscape. He was always ready with facts and figures to support his propositions. The nation will sorely miss his insightful perspectives and wealth of experience,” Tinubu said.

Similarly, former President Obasanjo lauded Ogbeh’s commitment to democracy, recalling his years of service in public life and his role in shaping agricultural policy. Both leaders extended their sympathies to Ogbeh’s family, friends, and associates.

Ogbeh, a respected statesman, held various political and ministerial positions over the decades and was widely regarded for his intellect, eloquence, and principled leadership.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family.
