Sanwo-Olu Flags Off Capacity Retreat for Council Chairmen, Urges Teamwork

The Lagos State Government has initiated a capacity-building retreat for newly elected local government chairmen, aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver effective governance.
In his address, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of teamwork and collaboration among the chairmen, urging them to learn from each other and work towards achieving common goals. He highlighted the challenges of governance and the need for the chairmen to be proactive in addressing the needs of their constituents.
The governor also stressed the significance of procurement and physical planning in local government administration, noting that these areas are critical to the success of governance at the grassroots level.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Bolaji Robert, stated that the retreat was designed to assist the council chairmen in settling down quickly to the business of governance and equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver effective services to their constituents.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sanni Okanlawon, urged the chairmen to be problem solvers and to earn the trust of their constituents through effective leadership.
The chairmen appreciated the governor for approving the retreat, expressing their commitment to delivering good governance and improving the lives of their constituents.
