Kaduna Police Crack Down on Gunrunning, Theft Rings

The Kaduna State Police Command has intensified its fight against armed crime with the arrest of suspected gun dealers and a motorcycle theft suspect in separate operations across the state.
Command spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan said in a statement on Friday that the arrests followed credible intelligence, leading to significant recoveries.
On August 5, 2025, around 2:00 p.m., operatives from the Ikara Division raided Kurmin-Kogi village after receiving reports of suspected gunrunning activities.
The operation led to the capture of two men — Isah Bello and Sa’idu Haruna — both from Damdami village in Soba Local Government Area.
“The suspects led detectives to their hideout in a bushy area, where four locally made rifles and four locally made pistols were recovered,” Hassan stated.
He revealed that Bello resisted arrest, assaulting a police inspector and injuring the officer’s face. The injured officer is currently receiving medical care.
“On the 5th of August, 2025, at about 14:00 hours, following credible intelligence reports about the activities of suspected gun runners, operatives of the Command from Ikara Division stormed Kurmin Kogi village Area and successfully arrested two suspects, namely Isah Bello and Sa’idu Haruna, both residents of Damdami village, Richifa Ward, Soba LGA.
“The suspects further led detectives to their hideout located in a bushy area where four locally made guns and four locally made pistols were recovered.”
In a separate incident on lAugust 7, detectives from the Dan Magaji Division arrested 36-year-old Shamsudeen Haruna of Galadimawa, Giwa LGA, for his alleged role in a motorcycle-snatching syndicate.
