‘I Know Tinubu’s Weaknesses, I’ll Defeat Him in 2027, Boasts Amaechi

Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed confidence that he can defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if granted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket.
Speaking on Saturday during an X Spaces conversation, the former Rivers State governor said his knowledge of the president’s political style gives him a clear advantage.
He also stressed that he has never participated in election rigging or served on the All Progressives Congress (APC) election planning committees, despite being a senior figure in the ruling party before his departure.
“I tell you, I’ve not had an election against Tinubu. I know Tinubu very well. I know his strengths. I know his weaknesses. And I know that if allowed to fly the flag of ADC, I will defeat Tinubu for sure,” Amaechi declared.
Amaechi’s remarks come amid growing speculation about his political future following his loss to Tinubu in the APC presidential primaries in 2022.
His possible alignment with the ADC marks a notable shift from his long-standing role in the APC, which he helped build in the South-South.
Political analysts say his comments may signal an early start to what could be a fiercely contested 2027 presidential race, especially as opposition parties explore potential alliances to challenge the incumbent.
