Former NANS JCC Chair Declares Support for Tinubu, Soludo Re-Election Bids

The immediate past Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council (NANS JCC) in Anambra State, Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara, has endorsed the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 and Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in the November 8, 2025 governorship poll.
Okpara made the declaration on Friday during his handover ceremony to the new NANS JCC leadership, held simultaneously at the Students’ Union Government Conference Hall of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam.
He revealed that more than 50,000 students across tertiary institutions in Anambra had been mobilised to support Soludo’s campaign, citing the leaders’ ongoing projects and progressive policies as the basis for their backing.
“We are throwing our weight behind President Tinubu and Governor Soludo’s re-election bid because the political parties, the All Progressives Congress and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, under which they are contesting, are both progressive in nature,” Okpara said.
The former students’ leader commended Tinubu for introducing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which he said had “removed the financial barrier to higher education for Nigerian students.” He also praised Soludo’s “One Youth Two Skills” initiative, the recruitment of over 8,000 teachers, and road construction projects across 179 communities in the state.
Okpara urged his successor to sustain unity among students and called on Nigerian youths to “embrace God and shun cultism and other vices.”
With political campaigns in Anambra expected to intensify ahead of next year’s governorship election, the endorsement by a major student body is likely to add momentum to Soludo’s bid for a second term.
