Ballon d’Or 2025: Nominees Unveiled for Men’s Club, Coach of the Year Awards

The organizers of the prestigious Ballon d’Or awards have officially unveiled the shortlist of nominees for two major categories — the 2025 Men’s Club of the Year and Men’s Team Coach of the Year — ahead of this year’s highly anticipated ceremony.

In the Men’s Club of the Year category, five football powerhouses have made the cut: FC Barcelona, Botafogo, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). These clubs are being honoured for their remarkable impact, consistency, and achievements in both domestic and international competitions over the past season.

Each of the nominated clubs demonstrated excellence on the pitch, contributing significantly to the sport’s growth and fan engagement. While Barcelona and PSG dominated their respective leagues, Liverpool and Chelsea made strong showings in European tournaments.

Brazilian side Botafogo also earned praise for an exceptional campaign that captured global attention, marking a historic year for South American club football.

In the coaching category, five top tacticians will vie for the Men’s Team Coach of the Year award. The nominees include Antonio Conte, Luis Enrique, Hansi Flick, Enzo Maresca, and Arne Slot — each recognised for their strategic prowess, leadership, and ability to inspire their squads to deliver exceptional performances.

The inclusion of Maresca and Slot, both relatively new to the elite managerial scene, highlights a generational shift in football management, while veterans like Conte and Enrique continue to assert their dominance with masterful campaigns.

The announcement of the nominees marks a key milestone in the countdown to the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony, an event hosted annually by France Football to celebrate outstanding achievements in world football. The gala, set to take place later this year in Paris, will also feature awards for the Men’s and Women’s Ballon d’Or, Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), Kopa Trophy (best young player), and other prestigious accolades.

With anticipation building, fans and pundits alike now turn their attention to the final selections, as the football world prepares to honour the best of the best.
