PDP Southwest Appoints New Interim Team to Steer Ekiti Chapter

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, the Southwest Zone of the party has approved the appointment of a three-member interim administrative team to take charge of the party’s affairs in the state.

This decision, made in accordance with Part VII, Section 26(2) of the PDP Constitution, was announced following a zonal meeting and contained in a statement signed by the Zonal Secretary, Barr. Olumuyiwa Obanewa.

According to the statement, Chief Sanya Atofarati has been appointed as the interim Chairman, Lanre Fajuyi as Secretary, and Chief Adeola Ogunrinde as a member of the team.

The trio is expected to assume duties immediately and lay the groundwork ahead of the arrival of the recently constituted National Interface Committee by the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The party also lauded the outgoing Ekiti State Caretaker Committee led by Chief Dare Adeleke, commending their commitment and efforts in repositioning the party in the state. The zonal leadership acknowledged the committee’s “dedication and tireless work,” which they said had laid a strong foundation for the party’s revival ahead of upcoming elections.

To further strengthen the party structure, the Southwest PDP also constituted a five-member Fact-Finding Committee tasked with conducting an independent and comprehensive assessment of the current state of the party in Ekiti.

The Fact-Finding Committee is chaired by Barr. Olumuyiwa Obanewa, with Seyi Bamidele, Benson Amuwa, Oluwakemi Bello, and Tunji Adeyemo serving as members.

The developments signal renewed efforts by the PDP in the Southwest to stabilize and unify its ranks in Ekiti, a state seen as pivotal in the party’s plans for future electoral contests.
